LONGSTANDING Lee Mill manufacturer Meddings Thermalec has celebrated its 75th birthday with a party and river cruise.
The company is the combination of Meddings Machine Tools, which makes bench and pillar drills, and Thermalec, which manufactures electric water heaters for swimming pools, spas, fish tanks and other applications.
Meddings moved into Lee Mill in 1973, with Thermalec following suit when the two companies merged. The Meddings side of the business is older, having started in Wembley and later Slough, manufacturing drills for the war effort. It is still privately owned by the Meddings family, with Peter Meddings the grandson of the founder running the company from its head office and factory at Lee Mill. Thermalec has itself been manufacturing its product for 50 years this year.
Meddings Thermalec celebrated its milestone birthday with a company party aboard a cruise on the River Exe. Staff and partners enjoyed a balmy evening on the boat with music, food and bar, with those in attendance saying what a great way it was to celebrate the anniversary, and looking forward to many more years, and many more parties.
